Spotlight

Our supporters are the lifeblood of the charity and we like to keep them as informed as possible. Our quarterly magazine Spotlight is one of the ways in which we like to do that. The magazine is distributed throughout the North-east by our Spotlight Ambassadors and is available in the ANCHOR Unit.

Copies are free of charge and we hope you’ve seen the magazine in your local area, whether it’s at the GP practice, in your corner shop or community centre. We are always seeking Ambassadors to come on board and help us spread the word about the work of the charity. If you know of a location that could stock the magazine, please get in touch to request some copies.

What your support means

to the ANCHOR Unit

“I have been fortunate to benefit from Friends of ANCHOR funding both directly and indirectly; the charity funded my research into lymphoma and leukaemia, and every day I see patients being supported by the work Friends of ANCHOR does.

I joined the Friends of ANCHOR committee after I was appointed as a consultant a few years ago, and this really brings home how much effort, time and commitment people give to raise funds for Friends of ANCHOR. With this in mind, I decided it was time to do something myself to give back.

With the exception of ferries to Orkney and Shetland, I cycled to visit all the 20for20 anchors throughout the North-east. As well as enabling me to visit areas of Scotland I had not seen before, I was also able to visit community hospitals along the way, which provide community care to ANCHOR Unit patients locally. My trip also highlighted the geographic challenges faced by patients, relatives and staff across the region, which Friends of ANCHOR is always working to address, by funding equipment such as video conferencing facilities which alleviate the need for patients to travel to Aberdeen for some appointments.

As a committee member and consultant in the ANCHOR Unit, I would like to thank everyone who fundraises for the charity. It makes a huge difference to patient care.”
