Any member of staff who works in the ANCHOR Unit or periphery departments is warmly invited to join our free yoga class.

What titles are available?
Friends of ANCHOR can offer a range of children's books designed to help young people cope when a loved one has cancer. 

The titles available cover topics ranging from diagnosis to bereavement, offering age-appropriate support for children and families.

Who can apply?
You can apply if you are a member of staff within the ANCHOR Unit or if you hold a clinical role within NHS Grampian, Shetland or Orkney that directly benefits oncology or haematology patients.

Who can apply?
Various research funding is available, and funding requests can be considered from University of Aberdeen staff, Robert Gordon University staff, and NHS Grampian staff. Please email erica.banks@friendsofanchor.org for details of currently-available funding.

Patient transport service
Who can use this service?

If you have a patient with an acute need for transport, who falls between the gaps of what’s available elsewhere, get in touch to see if we can help.

Transport requests can only be made by NHS staff for oncology and haematology patients. Make a request using the link below. 

Other transport options (including ambulance service):

  • Falcon Coach Hire provides bus transport to ARI for patients arriving by air or ferry. Call 01224 772224.
  • Keith Cancer Link provide transport for patients from Keith and District. Call 07969 957680.
  • Marie Curie offers transport to appointments for those with a terminal diagnosis. Call 01224 284390.
  • CLAN runs a service for those staying at CLAN Haven. Call 01224 647000.
  • The Transport to Healthcare Information Centre can help patients who can’t use public transport. It is suitable for those with mobility issues or mental health concerns. Call 01467 536111.

Making Memories
What is Making Memories?

Our Making Memories fund is for patients receiving end-of-life care or who have less than a year to live.

Grants of up to £1,000 are available, and past experiences have included trips to the football or theatre, weddings, special family celebrations or short getaways.
